Description
When I showed images such as these to a colleague of mine, her first reaction was to quite rightfully ask....'I hope you saved the pups....RIGHT'?
No....no I didn't. Through my guilt, let me explain....My partner Debra and I carry cans of dog and cat food with us everywhere we go in Burma (locals call it Myanmar). When I open a can, the willing recipients almost pass out as if he or she had just won the lottery. I doubt any of them has ever actually tasted 'pet' food before. They live on a diet of rodents and rotting food. Images such as these pups are found in EVERY drain, sewer, driveway, pathway, train track, sidewalk and creek in Burma. The problem is insurmountable. I now take care to stop and pat them....it's without doubt the only loving human contact they have ever received or will receive. It's heartbreaking....life is soooo cheap over here. The people are wonderful....don't get me wrong. They couldn't be more genuine and loving. However, their entire day's effort is devoted to making sure they themselves get enough to eat. They have little time to worry about animals.
These puppies are the lucky ones. They have a mother called Danni who feeds them everyday. She is covered in mange and tumors and to be perfectly honest isn't long for this world...........but for the moment they have love. Deb and I sneak out and fill Danni's belly with sausages and eggs from our 5 star hotel's buffet everyday in the hope that she keeps producing enough milk for her pups...by the look on her face she LOVES IT! (see below).

a neighbor and myself have been feeding some puppies and their mother that belong to another careless neighbor. they usually come running to my house when I drive through the alley. the mother knows how to beg like a well seasoned homeless.
they probably end up on someones plate as food
