Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

The golden door handle, mail slot and the three locks are very impressive additions.
Appears the door has stood up to many kinds of nicks and bangs over the years indeed !

I like both photos - yep! there are some places where it just doesn't make sense to do much more that attempt to keep it clean and relatively clutter-free

Quite a contrast between the door and the virtually pristine window on the left and the molding on the right.

HA! As if I would bother polishing my kitchen window outside or the sunroom door every day. Pjuske, the very furry cat, is making funny noices severel times a day with his wet paws on those windows to get our attention. WOOP! WOOP! WOOP! It says, when he is washing windows, so you can imagine how they look :) We are his door-persons, whenever he wants to pass.

Excellent lighting and atmosphere.

yep, porch doors are the ornery rejects of the house set. And they don't care. They stand their ground, their proud of their grime and scratches, and they'll take on any architectural element, any day, any place. Clean 'm up, they'll get dirty on their own. The pic is just right. And I love the circular patterns in the panes. Just the right shot for the subject.
(And btw: I want you to know that I don't have one space---not one---for wood, in my apt. Not even a cubby hole. Wood planks and logs don't play a major role in high rise living. That's one way in which our lives differ heavily: No wood shed in my place.)

Over here we call this sort of space a mud room, for obvious reasons!
