Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Ooh my he really is so handsome...not. A great capture of this very ugly toad. I guess it isn't his fault but ....

I think he is quite striking. You've captured every crease and wrinkly. Reminded me of a sign that stood for years where I worked. "This parking space belongs to the Wizard. Violators will be toad."

Superb photographs! So sharp and clear. I can almost hear his voice from here.

With the above commenters, an outstanding shot. You got all the wrinkles, and the leathery feel, and the light on it, and the jewel eye, and detail on all those wet leaves and twigs. A really intense shot, Andrea. It looks like a night shot, and the light is so intense. Terrific! (I've managed to do all of the last 7 shots here, but in no proper order! Sorry! Hope you didn't get tired going back and forth to your "notifications" list.) Great frog shot. And I'll try to act like I didn't hear Mark's "Violators should be toad"...
(Btw: I saw your comment on Tara's "Knolling," and I wanted to tell you that the word comes from a proper name: Florence Knoll, a furniture designer. That's why we couldn't find an explanation for it!)

Not pretty, but a precious host in the gardens! Nice capture!

Beautifully captured. A day after my birthday in December I got rear-ended and my little Toyota Yaris got totaled. His replacement is a used 2016 Scion iA and my friend named him Sapo, i.e. Toad, for the way it looks from the front. Great little car!
