Description

A bit of filter work on an existing photograph. Actually, I wonder if I had gotten the same results without the existing photograph. I'll try it and see.

I can tell you that it doesn't really matter what you use as a 'base' for an abstract work: I use anything I find...an old image, some patterns I throw on the screen, maybe just a color and a line. If you can make an abstract from scratch, that's great; but if you do it with a photo, that's fine too; because the end result is pure abstraction; and that's all that matters. (Now, if you were painting an abstract, that's a different matter...But even the great abstract painters transformed what they put on their canvases...they riffed 'off' of what was there...so it's still not too far from working with an image...)

This is a very fine, classy piece, your colors are many, but it has a very sweet pinkish tone to it, and your ambers, deep pinks and neon whites, etc, make very sweet highlights. Plus your patterns are wonderfully swirly and soft---with a 'scaled' pattern across them---perhaps you got that from your photo: in which case, kudos for using your photo in such an abstract way. It's a beauty, and your frame sets it off very nicely. With your predilection for patterns in photography, it's no surprise that you take to abstraction so naturally. This last batch is beautiful, and if you want to go au naturel---starting from scratch---all power to you! Either way, you're a natural at this...
