My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!
If I’m missing from Renderosity from time to time, I’m busy having fun elsewhere.
Thanks for your interest in my work, and for stopping by to learn more about me!

A nice capture that tells a story. Only a dog would be loyal enough to follow someone into forty-five degree water. It reminds me of an old story which answers the question “What is true happiness?”
Britain: A man arises at 4:00 a.m., collects his fishing gear and favorite dog and drives down to the sea where he stands waste deep in the predawn cold.
French: A man meets a beautiful woman while having drinks at his favorite bar. They chat for a while and then she invites him to her place where they spend the night. He has the best sex of his life and in the morning she prepares a gourmet breakfast for him and sends him on his way with a kiss.
Russia: Boris is awakened at three in the morning by pounding on his door. He opens it to find three very large men in trench coats. “Ivan Ivanov? We are KGB and we have come for you!” And the man points down the hall saying, “No, two doors that way.”
I tried fishing once. I killed a lot of worms and all I got was wet and cold.

Great capture Tara. As to the water temperature in Puget Sound. I used to swim in the Sound by the Mukilteo Ferry, just south of it, and it didn't matter what time of year it was, the water was could. Since the Sound is so deep one didn't have to go far into the water to swim. The thing I always noticed was the tide. 5 minutes one way and 15 minutes going back because of the tide!

First, I have to go back to 2013 and look for your other fog shots. Second, this MUST be seen full size to get the textures and mood of the piece. In that size, it's got wonderful etched waves, with complete realistic detail on the man and dog. And I love how the water is obliterated by the fog. The fact that the top half of this is all white---with whispers of blue---is stunning. I also love that the man and dog are half misted-out as well. A very moody, deep shot, and your topaz made the waves into a slightly crinkly, foil-like surface which I find quite appealing (esp in contrast w/ the realism of the man and dog). Besides, as Mark says in his always rich comment, only a dog would do this. A genuine capture of mood and infinity...

Brrrr! It really looks that cold, and the filter is perfect for it. Don't you just love Mark's story!

Great shot and Topaz fiddle, Tara. Once I was often fishing with hubby, but for many years he didnt borther. Last time was in Sweeden a whole week every day fishing. We killed a whole can of Corn, which hubby claimed was the best bait. Need I say I doubt, as we didnt even get a cigaret fish? (fish size of a cigaret) . Dennis never went fishing after that. He was just a kid at that time. Big disappointment for both Dennis and for me. Bet that was the same bait he and my dad used 20 years before, also in Sweeden and same result. One should think you learn by experience :D LOL! I just asked him...they used bread balls. I rest my case.

Beautiful capture Tara.
The dog doesn't seem to be afraid of water.

What a wonderful atmosphere to dream up (to dream away). On your photo it looks like the man, plus dog, has been standing there for hours in the same position, as if they are part of the sea, as statues, really beautiful, this Tara. Brrrr. that cold!!!
Thank you for writing about Bill and his "digging" in the history of Valkenburg, so interesting too, Tara, and Bill of course. There are 5 Castles in Valkenburg, and it's really near to our place, about 16 km., by car about 20 minutes, "as the crow flies" 9.5 km. And we've bin there very often in the nature around this little town, particular in "Gerendal", there are a lot of Orchids in spring. I've uploaded several pictures from "castle Schaloen", and from Gerendal. ;-) Wishing you both a lovely weekend, dear friends.

Wonderful, poetic shot. I'm not a fisherman & don't have much tolerance for chilly & damp weather, but I can see why it appeals to some...

Such a great atmosphere.

The fish must bite better with the fog otherwise why would you spend time fishing in foggy conditions when you can't even see the countryside. lol. The dog also must like fish to eat otherwise why would he be out in that temperature. I know it is the loyalty thing but heck he must have cold feet........ A fabulous capture with a beautiful mystical feel to it.

This is a kind of photo I do like very much - some years back and still great!

A wonderful photo, Tara. It really communicates the cold and moist atmosphere on this foggy day… That guy really must have wanted to catch a fish! LOL
