Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

He looks so comfortable here and he will be missed on RR as you have had him a long time. I think you have made the right decision before he was in pain. You will have the most amazing memories of Ralphie but you will miss him.

I am so very sorry to hear this...Losing a furry companion is always very difficult, painful, but you gave him a really good life and in the end you did the right thing.

I'm with Mike and Nancy and Goldie, I've known pet owners who've had the conversation you had, with their vets, and they had to make the same decision. Thanks for sharing Ralphie with us for so long, it's been a treasure for all of us, and I'm very grateful to have known him through your loving eyes. My gratitude for sharing him with us for so long. Many blessings to both of you.

I commented on your facebook post. At least he went peacefully and without pain. I wonder if the girls notice anything different?

Pets are so cherished. They become such a big part of our family. I am glad you were able to have a long time to enjoy his company and that you feel good about the decision you made for his end life care.

Oh dear. I knew this was coming, but it's never an easy choice. When we first met, you had Sadie, Hettie and Buster, as I recall. Life, and the round of dogs, goes on. I feel a bit sad for myself because I do get attached to your pack, but that's what happens with we make friends with short-life-span creatures, even from a distance. I'm glad Ralphie won't be in pain. It sounds like you made a good decision on the timing.

Thanks for sharing Ralphie with all your friends for many years here Andrea.
Saying goodbye isn't easy, but knowing you did what was best for him makes it easier.
He looks so comfy, cozy and warm here, thanks for letting us say our farewells as well.

OH Dear. I feel I have been away for ages and I didnt even know about Ralphie. Yes in his conditions, you did the right thing, also because he had almost no life left and you have other dogs to take care of. But the fact that he had a perfect life with you, is the comfort you will always have. Thank you for all the wonderful photos and stories you have shared with us about him. He was a beautiful and happy dog with you.
