It's hard to choose just a few images, but I chose this for the great way you evoked the title. At first, we assume the 'new kid' is the woman in the front, right side: But you have a lot of people looking at us, and really, any of them could be new. But then, maybe---and I wonder if this isn't the case---maybe the 'new' kid is us, looking in. You've made an image of people who've turned around---or stopped in their activities to glance in our direction---in order to see us: They looked surprised to see us, and curious. And you created the feeling of an evening of lovers, and some younger kids too; even an older man with his little brother (or son)---a real array of humanity here. So maybe we're the 'new' person here, and everyone is suddenly seeing us. And that front woman---front right---seems to be stunned by our presence, and perhaps inviting us to enter this young-person's dating-realm. Great job with each person; great job with the textures and hues; your husband's background is perfect, dark, very urban and mysterious; and you got a grain in many parts of the piece that makes it graphic and very 'journalistic'. (I mean that, in photojournalism, you often see grain in night shots because they don't have time to adjust their cameras to eradicate grain: So they get high ISO grain. That's what you have here, even though this isn't primarily a photo.) Extremely well done, Ute, a terrific and rich image...and those red lips up on top of the image are great in this very blue image...
