Description

65 GTOoooo lol, I saw a 65GTO today in the gallery here and thought I have one of those, I was only going to do a quick picture with it, But as usual once I put it into Cararra I ended up spending hours on it. This was going to be a quick fun picture and the light set I was going to use only takes a few minutes to render, But this light set is much better for the chrome shader at it also removes the wrinkles from my face lol, That is why I was happy to wait a hour for this picture to render. While it was rendering I found myself thinking back to my childhood and two things I remember most are one visiting my grandparents on a Saturday night and being given a box of old toy cars to play with on the lounge room floor, It was a lot of fun racing the cars on the floor and I was always careful the cars must have been old already because they were my uncles toy cars when he was a boy so I am guessing they were made in the 1960's and the other memory I had was having take-away food on a Friday night. It was a choice between Fish and chips or Chinese take-away and sometimes we would visit the toy shop at the end of the block whilst waiting for our order, I was always fascinated by the Mattel Hot Wheels cars, Some were just standard looking cars and some were Ooooover the top, Every now and then I was lucky enough to be allowed to buy one (with dad's money) and I had the carry case at home to safely store them in, Oh and I had the twin lane race track to race them on, You know the one with all the long flexible pieces of track to join together and you would clamp it to the table top or the top of a chair and gravity would decide the winner, It had a starting gate and a chequred flag would fall on the winners side. I only had the cars that were small enough to fit in your pocket, I could only dream of ever owning one of the larger scaled ones, That is why I have a glint in one eye and a tear in the other eye in my picture, Both happy and sad memories of days gone past. Hot wheels cars with over sized engines and huge back wheels were the look I was trying to achieve, I originally had the engine sitting lower in the car when I made the exhaust pipes, But when I put it into Daz to render I put the engine higher like in the Hot wheels cars, Part of the exhaust should be closer to the top of the front guard and then the whole exhaust system would be lower, I only just noticed this when rendering, The car and engine were made seperatly, So I had to let it slide, I am hoping to do more cars in this style soon, I have most of the parts made now so it should be a little quicker next time to create more crazy Ooooover the top cars. Thank-you for looking and happy motoring.

I have to say awesome work!... kind of the ones that RF(rat fink) would make... all it needs is some crazy character hanging out the window.

Very cool render. I'd love it if it were the 65 in my renders that reminded you. The Tempest GTO has more class where as the goat is more sport. I dig your recollection as I remember Hot Wheels much the same way. Awesome adaption to this classic, also reminds me of Cartoons magazine. Thanks.
