Description

Felt like doing a '70s render. I remember when Journey to the Far Side of the Sun was before its time. And of course, 2001: A Space Odyssey was. Star Wars would show up ten years later. Now everything is expected to be shot in 100% CG. Once in a blue moon though, models are still built for movies. Much of the fans still make models of their favorite movie ships for display at convention art shows. Modeled in Hexagon 1.21. Painted in 3D-Coat 4.7. Rendered in Vue 9.5 Infinite.

Nice render, cool shuttle. Modelling in the movies is a sacred art. 2001 is still brilliant even by todays standards.

Even though CGI can provide types of shots that would have been impossible in analog film making, well designed miniatures were always shockingly realistic. Blade Runner, Total Recall, 2001 all used them to amazing effect, and those films sfx have aged quite nicely compared to many CGI.

That said, another great render and I wish I were as good with modelling!!!!
