Within the Norcan territories, rules are enforced on almost every female Big-Feet mutant, including Ionivka, by painful electric shocks on her wrists from her handcuffs that are constantly monitored by an artificial intelligence system (a Big Brother-like system). That system is known as the SySAR in French (Système de surveillance et d'application des règlements, it means : Surveilance and Rule Imposition System). Warning or punishing electrical shocks are imposed on the wrists, either automatically by the system or manually by a police woman. Imposed rules are set for encouraging them to work, on protecting them from accidents and on forbidding them from going to disallowed space, touching disallowed things, or from doing disallowed activities. Forbidden space, things and activities could be time-dependent, for example : she can go to the cafeteria or to her room only during allowed time; she cannot touch her face or her body during a period of some mild punishment, she cannot sleep during working hours.
