Description

The Coubre lighthouse is a lighthouse located in France on the commune of La Tremblade in the department of Charente-Maritime, in the New-Aquitaine region. The highest lighthouse on the Charentais coast, it is protected as a historical monument, and an ecomuseum retraces the life of the lighthouses in the Gironde estuary. The lighthouse is automated and managed from La Rochelle by the Lighthouses & Beacons service but it is no longer guarded. It is possible to visit it from February to mid-November because the Town Hall of La Tremblade welcomes tourist.

Ouch, my feet. Oh, I'm getting dizzy! No elevator? Sigh. Might as well start exercising! The old light house keepers must have had very good legs! The view from the top must be fantastic! Keep up the good work! :-)
