Description
The Port-Navalo lighthouse is a lighthouse located on the peninsula of Rhuys, Port-Navalo, in the municipality of Arzon. The lighthouse stands opposite the tip of Kerpenhir in the commune of Locmariaquer and marks the entrance to the Gulf of Morbihan from Mor braz.
The alignment with the lighthouse of La Teignouse traces an access road to the Gulf. This road did not prove to be safe, because on 26 August 1922, the shipwreck of the French battleship of the Courbet class, which had been torn apart by a rock, revealed too late an unnoticed and unmapped shoal, placed in the middle of the alignment of the two lights.
The remains of the wreckage are located 0.5 miles southeast of the Teignouse lighthouse.

Excellent photograph and as always fascinating historical background. the Courbet-class ship that foundered there was "France" with the loss of three crew, as I read as my interest was piqued by your commentary.
