Description

Melbourne Zoo. All the Australian fur seals here have arrived from the open ocean having sustained major injuries. Most wounds are either caused by Great White sharks or sadly fin chops from outboard motors. Those that are fit enough are returned to the sea, the rest live permanently at the rehab centre. They are taught a number of 'tricks' daily, not only to entertain them (they are as smart as sheep dogs and need daily mental stimulation), but also to allow the vets to examine them each day without them noticing. They also have a beautiful large wave pool to swim in.

Great! Nice they get taken care of. And, if so smart, they understand they are being cared for. Nice photo. I wonder which of the 2 is having most fun! :-)

I wonder who's having more fun here - the seal or the human?
