Description

The Fort de Fouras or Semaphore de Fouras is the medieval castle of Fouras, small town located in Aunis in the department of Charente-Maritime. It is also misnamed by tourist leaflets Fort Vauban, although most of its construction predates Vauban's intervention.

I love old Forts. I always thought that The USA only had (1) Fort Knox until my wife and I took a vacation up to the New England area and discovered that there in Fact are (2) Fort Knox's..Nice Photo!

Very good photo of this. It could have been Vauban, but there are several medieval design features that make the observant connoisseur alert to the fort's earlier beginnings. Nice of you to have taken several photos from different angles. Keep up the good work!
