... and what storm, might you ask ? Pick one..... any turbulence in your life Shelter From The Storm To my desk is where I go, to get shelter from the storm. It's the only place that I can feel, protected and warm. I can build a wall of words, to keep out all the pain. It comes in many intensities, like the wind and rain. My words are where I can hide, from the world outside. The words pour from my heart, my emotions I can't hide. When my pen just won't move, that's when I close my eyes. I think about who I really am, as my anger slowly dies. I used to wear a suit of armor, nothing could ever get in. Now it doesn't take much to hurt me, my skin seems kind of thin. People can be like the wind and rain, pound you to the ground. Eventually you can't get up, it's hard to turn things around. So you seek out shelter, to protect you from all the pain. Feeling safe looking out the window, at the wind and rain. It's funny how you cope with life, to be who you need to be. My words stand between life and death, I call it poetry.
