Description
the lady at the rangers station told me that at one point the cave had been dynamited to prevent people getting trapped inside. she told me that it also the cave extended all the way through the mountain. if you choose it would be interesting to open full screen because of all the different details above the opening

I'm sure there are uncountable numbers of undiscovered caves all over the midwestern states, especially in the ozark regions with the Karst topology so prevalent in this area. Too bad they had to close it off, but you did capture some fascinating detail, Richard.

I'm only back for a pic in each gallery this time, Richard, but I'll be back for more the next time I'm here. As always, there's a great deal to chose from in your gallery, and I chose this for the amazing "action" you caught, in the lines and forms, etc. The lines and angles have real drame; the play between lighter and darker hues is dramatc; and the contrast of a tiny opening with all that heavy rock above and around it---these all add to a picture that moves, plunges, even threatens. "Threatens" in the way all that rock threatens to cave-in on that small opening...A truly masterful capture of the drama that is rock: You couldn't have captured it better. And it's a must, full size.
