Description
Yesterday, my wife & I marched in support of local high school students protesting gun violence & demanding action. Our local newspaper estimated the crowd at between 1,500 & 2,000, which I think was accurate & is very large for a small city like Medford. We marched to a high school athletic field, where three local students gave passionate & articulate speeches. Essentially, all they're asking for is to be able to attend school & learn without fearing for their lives. Seems like something a civilized society should be able to provide for it's children...

while the NRA keeps politicians in their pockets, it's going to be hard

I can imagine the apprehension of students wondering if someone will assault and killed them in a place that should be relative safe.
I see no reason for the need of of assault weapons by john q public. just because the constitution gives the the right to bear arms does not take away the right of people to live a safe and comfortable life without the fear of mass killings.

Superb capture my friend. Honestly i do not know how they allow any weapons to be taken into any school ground. Here in South Africa no weapons is allowed in any school yard. God bless.

Since we tightened our gun laws over here, we haven't had a 'mass' shooting in 20 years......

Yes, we often cite Australia's success, but unfortunately there are two obstacles to implementing that kind of buyback program here: the 2nd amendment to our constitution (which our conservative Supreme Court is very unlikely to change it's interpretation of) & a country full of gun fetishists who value their precious guns over the lives of their fellow citizens.

I'm glad to hear that you marched and that they got a big turnout everywhere. Maybe something will get done with your gun laws.

A completely worthy way to spend your day. Thank you for the pictures.

better security in schools; yes. A gun was all that saved the lives of not only myself, but that of my son. Abolish gun rights. Can't say I agree with that in any way.
