Description
This is an old-old card, part of a series of hand-made note cards from years back. It's a tiny thing, but the fun was doing it via traditional 'Chinese' style---where each leaf is painted with a single stroke (very different from our western way of 'building-up' an object via stroke-after-stroke).
These were commissioned in groups of 5, and they were fun because they were one little subject and no more. Also, they were cut and pasted by hand---no big deal, but we do so little of that now, it's become a novelty! ((I still have the cutting board, it's the size of freakin' Cleveland, and it takes up half a wall. I use it to scare off unusually large insects...)) Just thought it fun to share an old relic...
Well, I'm finally getting to you all, incl your wonderful dedis; and I'll comment on all of you in the next day. I'm slow now, but I'm commenting chronologically, and I won't miss any of you.
Thank you for everything! This infection hit me in ways I wasn't prepared for, and the antibiotics came out of the west like a tidal wave. I wish a wonderful holiday to you all, and I hope your weekend is great!
with peace, love and inspiration,
Mark

I am so glad to see you posting, Mark, as I know how you have felt for a while. I hope it means, you are beginning to feel better now. This lovely waving Bamboo is such a graceful piece. I still have a Grass version of these in colors on my wall. Remember? I still admire the the graceful strokes. :)

I so admire this style of work, which I cannot do except in glaze on pots.

The image of the trees blowing in the wind is really gorgeous and designed well, Mark. For being years old it's still great to enjoy. I can see a book cover for this with a proper title and story. Hope your getting better my friend. I'm not even going to mention the bs still going on in my life.
Hoping that infection is done making you sick and wore out, glad to see a post and update my friend. See ya soon I hope with more posts and great news. Steve

Three sheets to the wind. That's what this reminds me of. Excellent application of brush work on this breezy piece, Mark. You seem to have all sorts of artistic gems from bygone days lying about your domicile. And hope your persistent battle with your ailments and antibiotics are reaping some success. In any event, glad you're back with us again.

This is so wonderful in its simplicity - I think that's the whole magic of oriental-style painting. Very simple, and so elegant. Filled with grace and movement. And you did a superb job with it, Mark. A true zen moment it must have been.
The Girls and I wish you speedy recovery from your infection, buddy! May complete healing be yours with all speed!

This is fantastic! The craft is amazing in and of itself, but the image truly makes you feel like the wind is blowing and that you can hear the leaves rustle. Glad to hear you are feeling better.

I am so glad to see a posting from you and to hear that you are on the mend again. Those antibiotics they give you these days seem to really knock you for six. I know hubby is still feeling the effects of them and still feels quite weak. I love the simplicity of this beautiful little card you created and the lovely flowing lines as it blows in the wind. It is a shame that a lot of these old crafts are no longer done as they were beautiful. Look after yourself and I hope you have lots of spring sunshine now.

What a life there is in this 'antique kind of' drawing, which holds in a stiff breeze, so it has to be ánd old, and tough. By 'tough' I mean someone who bends with that which plagues him, but doesn't bother, it remains forever resilient. How good, that you could share one of your beautiful copies with us again, Mark. I'm delighted, you are still the one with his special images, and especially with your nice humor.
I would like to thank you from my heart for your many beautiful words that you wrote to me, while I also think, this should cost you a lot of energy (maybe?) What I liked so beautifully expressed is this: "and it aged graciously". This gave me several thoughts, so maybe also inspiration to write a (Dutch) poem about those two last words. Take care, my friend!
