I'm at over an hour, and I've only commented on 2 pieces (!!) (I'm not gonna win any awards for "fleet-ness"), so I can only do one more, as I'm supposed to be resting these days. Believe me, there are many I could comment on: Just in the last month or so, you had an Iris that was cosmic and blasting, a couple of Arctic Wolf pieces with purples and blues to die for, and so on and so forth...but I wanted to pick another cat in a hat, since it's another of your playful pieces, which still has all your cosmic elements inside...
The cat's pose is out of the 19th C, certainly from a photography studio: You have it turning to us, back facing us, as if he/she was gently interrupted and glanced over its shoulder to eye us for a moment. In the cat's fur, gentle purples mixed into your grays and light blacks; and his/her eyes are purple tinged...in fact, you have a lot of purples here, from light to deep. It's one of the strongest palettes here, and it's done beautifully.
The hat could almost swallow the cat up---it's a big, grand 1890's hat, and you've filled it with your unstoppable opulent flora, easter eggs, ribbons, feathers---the objects may change from subject to subject, but it's how you portray them that counts. In addition to beautiful small-flowered bouquets, here, you have a perfect contrast with that big broad bow---broad swaths against many tiny flowers---and a beautiful sheen on the eggs---faberge for the feline set; your eggs here are jewels. The feathers are wonderfully airy, which is in perfect contrast to the mass of things you have below them.
On the other side of the hat, a bird who looks like he flew in from Alice In Wonderland---love that flat-top hat and the feather: He's dressed for a formal parade. And, the under-portion of the brim is pleated, almost felted, in beautiful billows. And the band on the hat is a mix of pastel-like watercolor purples. Even the gray of the hat has tints of purple in it.
Surrounding the cat in the hat? Carol-stuff: those cosmic mists filled with florals and whooshes and light and undulations. They're quiet here because of the simpler palette of this piece: But they're still undulating and flowing and pulsing. And I love how you make florals emerge and submerge in your cosmic mists. And you have eggs on the bottom too---those are fancy eggs! You're not skimping on the ol' eggs here! Some look like marble, in fact. And you have enough white mist to set off the darker hues and shadows here. (Really, that's just basic design sense.)
It's a playful piece, with a great formal 19th C pose, with a cat who is discreet but still turns to reveal a glimpse into her being; but laced with your usual overflow of everything, which take this piece into your cosmic realms, even though it's done with much gentleness. Beautiful. Basically? Whatever subject you tackle, you make it cosmic, sensual, brimming, overflowing and beautiful. Currier and Ives would take a look at these, and realize that, for all their fine stylizations, they were playing in grade school compared to what you do. (I mention Currier and Ives, because there is a certain late 19th C, early 20th C feel here.) I have to stop now, as I'm now at an hour and 30 minutes, but believe me I could comment on tons more. Brilliant, sumptuous work as always, Carol. I've seen everything you've posted, and I'm sorry I can't comment on them all; but as always, this is a sumptuous, exquisite gallery, overflowing and radiating. I'll drop you a line to touch base again, but your work is as radiant as ever.

Mark, thanks so much for your delightful comment and observations. You always amaze and inspire me. This cat in the fancy Easter lilac hat is my most popular image in the series of 30 paintings. She's all attitude, and I have to say wears that big hat with purrfect style. I think I've told you before I am a hat person. My collection is quite large and I wear hats all the time. Back in the day, about a million or so years ago, my mom used to wear big hats with big flowers on them, when that was popular. I just loved them and would often try them on with great glee. You said this is playful art, and it is indeed. A part of me, the inner child who adored playing dress up, still wants to wear those big flower hats. Instead, my fancy cats wear them.
