There's a tourist attraction Philippine village in Kent with huts and some of these vehicles, I was last there in 1985 but it's still there.

Yeah, they can't afford to just trade 'em in for a new (or even used) one. I suspect some of the taxis I rode in when I was in Thailand are probably still on the road...
