Description

The statue is by a famous British artist called Anthony Gormley and the reflections in the flooded crypt have been the subject of countless photos. Although I live in the town, I never tire of visiting the cathedral - especially the crypt when it's flooded. In fact, it's rather a disappointment when it's dry and there are no reflections! You can see how deep the water is because the statue is based on the body of the sculptor and is life size. I chatted to one of the guides and she told me that the water had been up to his knees a few days ago.
