Description
This is the dam on the farm where we stay in Quamby, Tasmania. There were a couple of international tourists staying there with us a few weeks ago. They had been told by the owners that there were platypus living in the dam and to go and have a look! (this is true). As we walked down there to see if we could see any, a huge and very deadly Tiger snake appeared on the jetty. The tourists freaked (all their fears about Australia had just come true!!). The snake took one look at them and flung itself in the water to swim to safety! No pics of the snake as I didn't have a camera at the time, but in hindsight it was very funny! Photo taken approximately one hour before the event!

Wonderful pic. Lots of stories about Aussie three-stepper snakes and spiders.

I am happy to live where only the humans are deadly.

In thinking about it, I'd rather deal with the animal life of Australia than that of any 'civilized' human anywhere in the world.
great story and cool picture Although getting scratched by the claw of the Platypus is no walk in the park.
