Description
The Piper L4 "Grasshopper" is a military version of the beloved Piper Cub. Basically the L4 is exactly the same aircraft with olive paint and a bit more window area to befit its role as an observation aircraft. It carries a pilot and one passenger/observer. The cub was first produced between 1937 and 1947, purportedly envisioned as an aircraft that would inspire interest in flying, and indeed sparked a great interest in flying. The craft was inexpensive, easy to fly, and easy to maintain. It became an easy favorite among pilots and non-pilots. The J-3 Cub served in WW2 and the Korean conflict as a Civil Air Patrol craft and forward observation craft with distinction, and after the war many were merely painted over in the lively "Cub Yellow" color. The Cub was ugraded over the years until Piper sold the rights in 1981, having produced over 2,500 units of the Super Cub. As a tribute to this worthy aircraft, thousands are still in use today and are a pampered favorite of their owners.
Personally, it's my favorite aircraft! My Dad introduced me to the Cub when I was a kid, and as an adult, some of the best flying time that I've ever enjoyed was in a Piper Cub that a friend owned. Low and leisurely, my favorite! It's like an old friend.
Absolutely terrific model generously available free at sharecg by the incomparable aircraft modeler, Pedro Caparros. (One for the books, Pedro. Thank you!) This model is available in both L-4 and J-3 models, with...get this, accurate relaxed in-flight landing gear option. Get it or be square!

Great render Bill and good story, I bet you enjoyed those trips. Bit of advice, is it possible export the terrains created in Vue as an Obj to use other programs and if so would they export with the Vue materials intact.

Nice render. If you want I have 4 different versions of the piper made formerly for Vue. I can give you them for free, but they are for Vue8 and I think that you have only VUE6...
