Description

The Flickr challenge was Q is for Quality so I chose this Edwardian building in my town. In 1922 when this cinema in Westbourne opened quality was not compromised for speed and cost. This is a Grade 2 listed building and although it is now a Bingo venue at least it still stands! More about it Here I used the Topaz filter Oil Paining Classic on this.

Am I the only one who finds it a little ironic that the young lady sits atop a movie house while reading a book? Interesting information. I'm glad the building is preserved. We need all the character we can get.

When cinemas were billed as palaces. A golden age...of Q for Quality:)

That's quite a sculpture, for something as mundane as a movie house. Of course at the time movies were much more of an event than they are now, but still. What a difference!

This is why I like to walk around towns/cities, these details are missed when driving or public transport.

it is too bad that today's architects won't design classic beauty into their buildings - wonderful find, capture and history
