And here comes what everyone has been waiting for - the bonfire! In the big photo it looks like a witch is riding up on the wavy flame at the top. The witch belief came into the celebration during the 1600s, but soon disappeared from it. If you have read the article I appended you will have a very clear idea of what is being celebrated (spring) and how it's celebrated.
The bonfire in the thumb nail looks like a volcano erupting - pretty dramatic.
I hope you've enjoyed this series of photos.
By the way, it stopped raining at 20:15 / 8:15 PM!
