Description

Not absolutly love the shows that feature animals, especially those in which the fate of the poor beast is marked! But some of these shows are part of the culture, history and folklore of certain peoples and as such should be considered! Here I wanted to capture the dramatic moment before killing a bull in bullfighting: the animal exhausted from the wounds he has suffered and the anxiety of "Matador" as it prepares to final JAB! Many famous writers have ventured on the subject of "Bullfight", one above all Ernest Hemingway with his "death in the afternoon" book entirely focused on bullfighting and multifaceted reality which it accompanies. Thank you all for your visit and comments!

A mighty animal that is provoked, tortured and have the most agonising death while a crowd of blood thirsty people clap and shout is mind blowing this day and age we should all be moving on to better ways there are far better ways to remember cultures, history and folklores this act is Savagely Cruel......Your image all the same is wonderful and shows how mighty the bull is.

Great shot, this is the point where he hopes that the bull follows the plan... if not, it won't go to well for him! a cruel and senseless practice...

I agree with beachsidelegs, it's a spectacle unworthy of humans that we are, just a survival of Roman circus games Your image is impressive.

This creative and magnificent composition also reminds me of Hemingway's works, as he spent time in Spain and the Basque country, time which will be put to good use in the famous 'Fiesta' and ' the Sun also rises' short stories. You did an excellent job here, well done ! 🐛

Yes, bullfighting has raised many moral questions in our modern world. And yet, as you say, it's an old, old tradition. And it symbolizes the battle between humans and animals. To me, it's inhumane. But it is truthful: Bullfighting captures a lot of truth between humans and animals.

In your image, the bull stands "in our way": He obscures our view of the stadium: He's commandeering, in other words (requisizione, confisca). He takes-over the entire image: very well done, Nicola. And the matador seems 'faceless', as shadow overtakes his face. And you use reds which are wholly fitting for the battle. And deep yellows too. Impressive work, very well done.

In addition to Hemingway, Garcia Lorca wrote a stunning poem on bullfighting...perhaps you know it (you know a lot of literature): Llanto por Ignacio Sánchez Mejías (Lament for Ignacio Sanchez Mejias). It's stunning. Some of the opening lines:

A las cinco de la tarde. Eran las cinco en punto de la tarde... Lo demás era muerte y sólo muerte...

(At five in the afternoon.
It was exactly five in the afternoon... The rest was death, and death alone...)

I guess bullfighting will capture the imagination of people through time. I don't like it, myself; but I can understand its appeal. Your image captures the moment of truth very well...

L'argomento è molto delicato perché riguarda una cruente manifestazione, ma l'immagine è veramente suggestiva, Mi farà piacere vedere altri tuoi lavori qui con più frequenza !
