Description

Captured back on 4/4/09, at the Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino, California. The Stearman (Boeing) Model 75 is a biplane used as a military trainer aircraft, of which at least 10,626 were built in the United States during the 1930s and 1940s. Stearman Aircraft became a subsidiary of Boeing in 1934. Widely known as the Stearman, Boeing Stearman or Kaydet, it served as a primary trainer for the United States Army Air Forces, the United States Navy (as the NS & N2S), and with the Royal Canadian Air Force as the Kaydet throughout World War II. After the conflict was over, thousands of surplus aircraft were sold on the civilian market. In the immediate postwar years they became popular as crop dusters, sports planes, and for aerobatic and wing walking use in air shows.

(I love it when helle calls these "cute planes".) Well, they are cute. After all the models you've shown which were used for fighting, this really does feel like a 'training' plane, or just a show plane. I love the red. And, against the pale hues of the hangar, as well as the pale sky of shot number 2, it really stands out. Nice light and deep shadows too. And you managed to minimize the people and buildings in shot two, while letting them in the shot in perfect proportions relative to the plane. (They pop up over the fuselage.) Striking shot. And I also really like the angles of the light crossing the field in both shots.
