Description
In Bournemouth we have Yellow Buses and Yellow Taxis. The latter are Hackney Cabs, that is they are allowed to ply for hire, unlike the Private Hire firms who have a 'No Booking, No Ride' policy.
For those of you who like such things, there is a stringent set of rules , byelaws and conditions attached to owning and driving taxis which you can find Here
It runs to 64 pages and makes interesting reading, and covers even what clothes are to be worn by drivers. What is missing nowadays is the rule that drivers must urinate only on the offside of the horse and cab. There was a sign to that effect at the rank at the Landsdowne in Bournemouth till I was well into my teens.

Would love to meander along the walkway of shops. Buses & taxi's more interesting than ours!!!!

This looks like a good town for a stroll. In New York City every taxi must have a city-issued license, known as a taxi medallion. Recently prices reached a high of one million dollars making it out of reach except for large taxi companies. As a result there are many independent “gypsy” cabs that operate without approval.
