A cool catch of this pretty bright bloom. Actually, it looks like a miniature dahlia.

I have a bunch of these in my yard! LOL I know they're considered a weed, but I've always enjoyed the bright yellow flowers. Wonderful photo, Helle!

Such a charming little flower! I've heard a couple of definitions of weeds, one being, "anything that's growing where you don't want it," so if you want them in your yard, they aren't weeds! :) In these parts, we have a lot of slugs and snails. I always figured a weed was anything the slugs wouldn't eat. They seem to like to eat the plants we pay for, though! LOL! Now that I no longer have to concern myself with a yard, I don't mind dandelions at all. They're lovely!

Love the color yellow that you captured...and the details of the petals and stamen too. I carefully pulled up two that had gone to seed from our yard yesterday and walked gingerly over to where I could throw them away. When I got there...all the white fuzzies were gone. Where did they go? Well, all over the grass behind me! Just what I was trying to avoid.

(I just lost my comment! Ugh! Ok, I'll try again...)

First, tara and bill refer to dandelions via their 'weed' stature. Yes, they grow like wildfire...but they're incredibly healthy. You ever eat dandelion greens? (They're a staple food in Greece.) I love them. And they're great for the liver, etc. Also, the blooms are gorgeous---I agree. Harry compared them to Dahlias---of course he's shown such a beautiful array of dahlias, of late, I can see where he'd find some similarity. You captured the little spindly curlies at the end of each petal, and the big deep yellow bloom. And the leaves below look almost like a stylized bunch of ocean waves (the kind of waves you see in old Chinese paintings.) A big bold capture of a beautiful flower. It looks like they're in a pot---do you cultivate them? (They grow pretty freely, don't they?)

If you're interested, the English word comes from "dent" and "lion": Ie, "Lion's teeth," for the shape of the petals. It goes back to latin. But I just looked up---just now---the danish word: Wow---it's mælkebøtte! (I'm not sure I'd touch that word without protective gear, lol! To an american, that's a formidable word! We have no æ, and it also has that ø. I don't have a clue how to pronounce it...)

(Ok, I looked IT up: It means "milk pot". Wow---this is fascinating: A lot of languages name dandelions for the white sap in the stems: Milk Pot. Hungarian has a version. Serbian. Lithuanian. Wow...so that's where you got your version. Well, I hope I didn't bore you to tears, lol, but I was really curious...)
