Description
At Edwards Air Force Base in California, exists the finest test flight facility in the world. The men who fly these cutting edge machines use a phrase which totally nails down there job description. It is "pushing the envelope". That is what they do with every single aircraft that comes thru the gate. They fly each plane to the point of breaking . . . and then push it further. Better it break here than while some young pilot fresh out of flight school gets in a bad situation and just can't handle it from lack of knowledge and experience.
Segue to art in general and 3d art specifically. I was wondering how far I could push the mesh of a Genesis Female body before it breaks. It turns out you can push the morphs pretty darn far, but before it breaks you will notice a degradation in the actual render. The edges will start to show their vertices and the texture map will just look wrong. Another aspect to think about is the psychology of scale. The human mind usually has an idea of what looks right and what doesn't. Most space craft and machines in Sci-Fi are blown up to incredible sizes that simply dwarf our ordinary everyday lives and we can accept this scaling because they look like what we might expect especially in todays world of CGI technology. The human body is a curious thing though. We all notice if something is just not quite real enough for us to accept. The bust line is one aspect that we as artists like to "play with", if you will excuse my phrasing. I personally like my females to be idealized but well within the realm of everyday world reality. Now that we know that we can push the limits on size that won't break our models physically we have to find a limit on what we will accept visually in respect to our own reality. Getting back to my posted image today, Julie on the right is one of my usual female characters. Her friend, Sandy, is leaning against the world globe. Julie now looks rather petite when compared to Sandy, wouldn't you say? I like people who push the envelope and I think I just did that with Sandy! In my mind if I went any bigger, Sandy would turn into a cartoon character, and that is not where I want my art work to head (no disrespect to cartoonists everywhere. I love your work!!!!). If you read this far, thank you. I hope you can glean at least a little bit of info from what I am saying here. I promise not to over use Sandy, but she is now one of my fantasy girls I have in my group. All the girls like her, so I guess she stays (LOL). Enjoy.
Note: No nudity checked because they have on their bikinis!

Great new gal you have there Dave. You're right of course, there's a limit to the boundaries before the character becomes more cartoon like. My Candice character is just that, going just over the point where it would probably physically uncomfortable to walk around like that every day. It's also good to see Daz are coming out with some great new mature women figures too. Keep up the good work buddy and lets see more of Sandy i say.

She didn't push the envelope, she busted through the glue joints and turned it inside out! Holy, moly.... That poor girl is gonna need a back brace by the time she's 25!
And my wife thinks G4 has big ones.... LOL
A always, you've shown off your great skill with lighting, and of course your fantasy girls all look great! Sandy will make a great addition!

Dear lord, she's definitely headed for back problems.

Interesting how people's attitudes towards the proportions of the human figure in art can differ. On my part I'm a complete 'naturalist': I like the proportions within the bounds of what Nature intended, and grow increasingly uncomfortable as the 'envelopes' are pushed further. (That's why I loathe anime, with its over-commercialised exaggerations of the same aspects of human anatomy in the same ways over and over again ad nauseum.)
Then again, having huge boobs like these can be a good thing. They can be used as an effective means of self-defense: you can easily crush to death between them anyone who double-crosses you -- if he isn't already intimidated by the terrifying spectacle of them to begin with. :P
