Description
Captured 5/17/18 somewhere in the city.
This homeless transient(s) certainly has an artistic streak in the choice of covers to sleep under.
Original on top, just for the record.

Cool photo and variations on this! Sad situation, though.

yes, we have many homeless in Chicago as well, and their blankets and belongings are often found on sidewalks, parking lots, alleys, etc. You captured the wild melange of these blankets, and they are quite a ganglia of forms and textures. In the second shot, I see a move towards abstraction, as if you've just begun a filter, but not gone very far. It's exciting to see your image 'emerge'. And in the last, you've moved into total abstract territory, with swirls and cells and whirling oil slicks, etc etc. A very rich conclusion. And, having worked for homeless shelters, I can tell you that some of the people who live in these blankets have, over time, developed states of mind not unlike your last variation. Some from drugs. Some from being over medicated by doctors (not knowing how much to take, or when to stop). Some from just losing their bearings from being homeless for so long. You captured the inner life of some of these people. But the image is also a wild abstract...a very compelling series.

powerful and somber scene - the postwork removes a bit of reality
