Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

What a thoughtful gift.
I need this type of decorations as well, I am not a gardener at heart.
The original is lovely but the filter presentation adds a lot of flair.

What a fun object! I'm sure your friend will enjoy it. I have terra cotta painted parrots in pots at our place in Texas. People kept asking me if I was going to put anything in those pots (there are several in front of the house,) so I filled them with that red, lightweight, porous rock and put parrots on top. Nobody asks any more. :)

both versions are beautiful, the original has more tactile presence, this is more design-like. A delicate use of Topaz. When we designed and studied floral design, we learned what an essential design real flowers are: An intense center, and big sheets of light radiating out from it. Flower designs over the ages vary that over and over; and it's amazing that humans keep coming back to it, even in the ultra stylized rose windows and the trefoil designs and traceries of gothic architecture, etc. This rose speaks directly to that. Fine focussing on it, and bringing out the deep reddish orange. (The background harmonizes and contrasts it too, all at once.)
