Description

For the last several years whenever I visit Las Vegas I carve out a couple of hours during the day to visit the Auto Collections at the Linq/Imperial Palace. A nice, quiet, uncrowded place with an amazing collect of antique and vintage cars. My gallery is sprinkled with images from these visits. Unfortunately, on my last visit in early April I found that The Collections had closed - lost their lease. I was very disappointed - I felt I had lost a friend. No one I could find at the hotel could tell me if the Collections had moved or what was going to happen to the space. In tribute and thanks for some highly enjoyable times I put together this collage of a few of my favorite shots of the Collection; more to be found in my gallery. Farewell, my friend. Enjoy.

Liked your collage today and I've enjoyed your other car collection pictures in past postings...all from this fine display that is no longer at The Imperial Palace. Reminds me of driving through Reno, NV way back in the early 1960s. The Harrah Car Collection was there with some 1400 cars and a complete working shop for restoration. Bill Harrah died in 1978. His entire collection was sold off with the exception of about 250 cars now in Reno at The National Car Museum and the collection at The Imperial Palace (don't know who owned it). The good news is the cars are out there somewhere...we photographers just have to find out where they will be displayed next. I'll bet Jay Leno knows where they are going/have gone.

there is another collection that might be private in Las Vegas that I would love to visit which is owned by a casino mogul. I have seen video of it on TV. the closing of the Collection is a disappointment for me also. been there many times. the top left I know I have seen and took pictures. I probably seen the other's also.

outstanding collage

Here's an article that talks about the closure. Apparently all the cars were for sale, mostly on consignment, and they're being sent back to their owners.
