Description

......THE CASTLE WALL........ Well i tried an tried but the one i started on wouldn't render to my satisfaction in my lifetime so I bit the bullet and made a new one.I wouldn't recommend this method as it gets crazy in the screen redraw area, but i modelled every brick. All circular placements were accomplished with replicate around Y,and on the tower a bit of copy, paste, rotate, all othe bricks hand placed by me.The over-riding .itx in this render is Fracbump.itx, most useful, accompanied by the ever friendly, fnoise.itx.The grass is a modelled plane with camo.itx,RJJDirtbump.itx,and bmpnoise.itx.The trees and bushes are pictures, the mountain has too much on it to list. The wall uses RJJRibB.itx for the log look and uses statue.itx and RJAcid.itx to give it character. The torch flames are 2 part, the one you see the shape of with fire.itx, and an embedded volumetric shape that puts cool figuring near the bottom of the flame, the torch it self has a scale bump and colour map.the door is 10 2x4x84's joined, subgrouped and textured so each one has a different variation of grain, wit 2 hinges by me as well

The only thing I find less than good is the grass. Not much variation on it,looks kind of flat. All the rest is very cool, especially the castle wall and the door.

Well I gotta agree on the grass comment....by this time i just wanted to get it done cuz manuel had already announced the landscape theme and if you follow my 3D obsession you'll know that landscapes by themselves rate fairly high...lol,so i held back for the next one

With the grass - if you broke it up a bit with RJJ textures by using their ability to modify subsequent layers. That is create a more patchy effect - might come in handy for the landscape theme. :^) BTW - nice detail on the castle. The use of indidual bricks is the best choice for a convincing ancient chunky architecture look.
