Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Its good to see that they can have a peaceful retirement. I saw a picture of a horse used to pull tourists around in a carriage. It was lying on the street having collapsed from exhaustion. I read your comments on manners and have to agree. It seems some people delight in being rude to the point of cruelty.

You sure have strange motorcycles in the UK!

with today's people, this may not be enough to make them polite - they would see this as a challenge

Oh they appear to be safe and satisfied with their owners here.
There are way to many horrible that would cause harm if they weren't warned, I agree with Faemike !

when you first posted this, I thought they were elephants! (I didn't read your description till some hours later.) And, in my fog from having just woken up, I thought either you went to India for some reason (you know how you imagine, when you're half awake?), or 2) they got elephants in south England. But then I realized you'd have posted some by now, if that were the case. Those are formidable horses! And, while I agree about the sadness of having to wear the vests, as pictorial elements they add a wonderful zing to it all. (Aside: I'm eating a lemon a day now, because of it's internal cleansing ((which I need right now)); so I got "yellow" on my mind. Also, you ever get a handful of lemon oil from the rind? I mean tons of it, from squeezing the little buggers? You need turpentine to get it off! You could grease your car with that stuff!)
Anyway, it's a lovely shot, bad vests and all. And the horses are dark and massive, which makes them almost nostalgic. I love the silvery water and the dark land on top.
