Arthur lived alone in a comfortable, secure neighborhood in the outskirts of a large city. He had enjoyed an easy life never moving very far out of his comfort zone. Now that he was approaching his late 60s, he was seeking a distraction to take his mind off thinking about his mortality. Arthur was snuggled comfortably into his recliner, reading an old manuscript about ancient Egypt. He was contemplating writing a fiction novel but at the moment wasn't all that inspired. His fields of choice ran the gamut from ancient Egypt or the middle ages to a modern science fiction adventure. He had been reading most of the evening in this old book and sipping on several beers. His eyes started to droop a little bit. Suddenly, he heard a loud noise in the front entryway. It was dark down that hall so he couldn't see what had caused the noise. Suddenly, the outline of a person appeared in his field of vision and casually leaned back against the entryway wall. Arthur was quite shaken by this development. He was so flustered, he didn't know what to do. He just stared at the dark figure in the hall and by the figure's shining teeth, he could tell the figure was smiling back at him. Finally, Arthur got up enough nerve to ask; "Who who are you you and what do you want?! How how did you get get into my h h hou house!?" "Offer me a beer and I might tell you," came a smooth reply. At the sound of that voice, Arthur regained some of his composure and calmed down to a more controlled level. "I should call the police. Breaking and entering is a crime you know?!" "I don't think you want to do that. Aren't you a little bit curious to know how I got here?" Arthur felt the charm in that voice and it did make him very curious to see who was behind it. "Come over here a little bit closer. I can't see you in that darkness." "Only if you will offer me a beer like the one you are drinking now!" "Well, alright. Get one out of the fridge. But, I'm keeping an eye on you. I don't trust you! One wrong move and I'll call the police!" "Don't worry! I don't mean you any harm. After all, it was you that summoned me. But more on that after I have one of your beers." "Well don't get too comfortable. If I don't like your story, I'll want you leave pronto or I will call the police!" "Sounds fair enough to me.
