Description

A fishery is an area within a body of water, usually close to the shoreline, that has been developed to facilitate fishing1. By extension, the word also refers to the specific facilities that are installed there. The use of fisheries is a very ancient activity; there are traces of many fisheries dating back to prehistoric times.
