what a strange beautiful flower this is. I've seen lots of poppy shots, but I've never seen one like this. The green hair-covered protrusions are so primal, and you have them with water droplets all over, and you caught the bristles. They look like big wet caterpillars. (I know there are botanical names for these, but I don't know them.) The lower flower almost looks like crepe paper, or some kind of silk. The lighter yellow patterns look like artwork, or some thick hebrew or arabic lettering. What an amazing 'creature' you captured, letting us see all that 'stuff' going on in it: Hard to believe it'll be a full bloomed poppy soon. A strange and magical capture, Barb, and I'm glad to see growth in your backyard---it wasn't so long ago that you guys had cold, cold, cold.

(you said your brother was an architect, who's influenced by Wright. You have real artistry in your family...you and him, alike. I hope that gives you two a bond of some kind. Being an artist isn't always the easiest thing, in family life...)
