Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

The unfiltered version of this is luminous, with all kinds of prickly points of light. A beautiful fascinating shot. This version---whoosh, you turned it into a part-painting, with great rushed brushstrokes, or else a photo where everything was whooshing by. I love the final effect---full size is a must! And the light on the imperator is beautiful. This is luminous and so painterly!
(You know, I was just thinking, I choose the number of 'stars' when I comment, because I feel guilty that I no longer fav---I don't fav any image anymore, because it gives me more time to comment, and because I did so many fav's it became redundant. But I thought: Did Rembrandt post and get stars? Did Vermeer give Remb. 4 stars, because he thought R used "too many browns"? Did lesser Dutch masters say "cool" to one of Vermeer's masterpieces? Or "God bless!" ((no offense to you know who, lol)). ((I told helle I want to end my comments with "now get f___d")) Did Michelangelo post a shot of his David and say, "it's NOT FINISHED ok? but I wanted to show you the feet...I've been working on feet (I hate feet!)...and I PROMISE I'll comment this weekend! Promise...I'll be with the Pope on Sat, but Sunday---I'm in your galleries..." Did Giotto get Artist of the Month? Or Caravaggio post tutorials on YouTube? Well I think about these things...ok, I'll move on...)
