Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I've never understood the reason why people vandalize things. It's really sad.

I agree with Andrew. It is so lousy to do such things.

Superb capture Andrea. I also do not understand this ludicrous human behaviour. God bless.

I also do not understand how some people can do such things.

What is in their minds, makes me cross.

I was going to suggest that it be rebuilt but then I realized it would probably just be destroyed again. I fear we are entering a new age of barbarism.

whilst I am for Law & order, there comes a time where vigilantism should be used

I wonder what it looked like originally...I take it those wooden supports held up some kind of partition? Whatever it was, it's a shame...I always thought Europeans were more sensitive to animal life than americans; I'm sure they are, but this is a bad sign in the other direction. But Andrea, the picture itself---forgetting the story of it---is very appealing. The intensity of the protected area, the 'wall' of the wood like a gigantic piece of basketry, and then the vast expanse of land with water (river or marsh?) and that long sky and background. It's really attractive. And one person on the end, staring at you quizzically? I love the shot, even though it shows idiot-insensitivity. (I had to look up "bird hide," as we don't have that term here. We'd probably call it a bird sanctuary.)
