I taught myself to drive a standard in my mother's driveway with a 1950 Ford Custom 2 Door secretly . had no one that wanted to help me, so I did myself

Sometimes you just gotta grab the steering wheel by the rim and let the consequences fly! I took many excursions down by the Missouri River bottoms in my brothers old 37 Chevy pickup learning how to drive myself as well! Good photo and fine memories!

Leave it to you to find all these oldies but goldies. Good for you for showing the initiative to teach yourself how to drive. I too learned how to drive on a standard shift--my Pop's old MG, a car my mother hated. So, we got rid of it and replaced it with a Mercedes--more my mother's taste 😜 But if we held onto that MG, it would have been worth mega bucks--convertible, side flaps, running boards, nice dark green with leather seats...it was a blast to drive.

I never learned how to drive, we were always too poor for a car or lessons.

Great shot of this beauty, Richard!
I taught myself to drive a stick shift as well, only mine was a 1968 Ford Mustang with a 3-speed. Wish I still had that car!
