Description
Another quick one. The cliffs began as the side of a crater I was modelling for another project. By changing the color of the rock and adding a sedimentary look to it, I created an acceptable cliff.
The textures on the cliff are: ABCrumple, ABDented, RJJNoiseBump, and RJJCrackleBump. There is also an altitude map that gives the layered look.
I created a cliff profile and extruded it. I had an applique map to break up the cliff a little. I then added the textures and tacked them to a 'straight' state. Finally, I conformed the cliff object to a roughly 'L' shaped path. It took a little trial and error to find the best location of the axis when conforming to the path. I then created a 'Curved' state. A copy of the cliff was then rotated 90 degrees and put next to the first one to create the canyon.
AASky created the sky and background mountains.
11/20/02- Added cacti and old tire for size reference.

Your cliff is really impressive. But we can't estimate the height without a reference, like a tree. I suppose it is very high. I love to watch craters, I hope you will show us yours.
