I have had an interest in politics for sixty of my seventy years and in all that time I have never been as enraged as I am now. What the Trump administration is doing to children at our border is a crime against humanity. One social worker in the area has said it is legalized child abuse. The children and their parents are separated and sent to different locations. In most cases the parents have no idea where their children are and have no way of communicating with them. Even convicted murderers are allowed visits by their family. The Homeland Security employees who operate these detention centers are not allowed to touch them, to hug them, to comfort them. Tent camps are being set up for the children. Even Japanese internees and concentration camp victims lived in wooden barracks. And now word has come down that some parents are being deported while their children are left behind in the United States. An audio file was released today by ProPublica. It records the sounds of crying and frightened children in detention.
