Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I think I like the coloured photo better, just cos it really shows off the beautiful flowers!

Nature Girl in her element. And one-handed photography? Pretty confidant.

Super!! You can be proud of your garden, as well as of yourself holding your garden so beautifully, dear Andrea.

I'm skipping over a lot of great stuff here, to find an appropriate end to this session (I'm at an hour and 10 minutes, and I have to move on)...but I end with this because I love how fit and content you look, kneeling and taking pictures (I can't hold that posture for long without my legs screaming at me); I love how fit you are, over all; I love that we get to see you actually photographing the things we view in your gallery all the time; and the pic itself is a melange of black and white forms, lines, shapes, flows, light, etc; a big abstract-real image. I really like the shot. The color one is of course fuller and more vivid; but this one feels more essential. I love it. I have to leave now, unfortunately, but commenting here is always a treat, esp as I've seen everything beforehand (and usually before a comment is posted---I get to come back and see what people thought!). And I look forward to coming back soon. And btw, I haven't used a camera that size in a long time. It must be freeing...(I'm thinking about flickr, now that several of you are there. I'll have to leave much shorter comments, but maybe I'll go there, I'll see. I've been a member since the middle ages, I just never posted...)
