This was originally created for a weekly contest by DAZaholics at dA. Here's the story: The main thing you need to know about Robert is that he's a romantic. But few women seem to appreciate him, and many have taken advantage of his generous nature in the past. So when a beautiful elven mage started appearing to him in the antique mirror, he couldn't believe his luck. Caelwyn told him all about herself: she was a portal mage, able to transmute mirror glass in his world into a physical portal to her world. But her talents were not appreciated by her people, and she was a loner, like Robert. She was so lovely and sweet, and after a few appearances she confessed her love for him. So when Caelwyn finally invited Robert through the mirror, he didn't even hesitate. But the main thing you need to know about Caelwyn is that she's a sociopath. Caelwyn's talents for portalling, seduction, and manipulation are available to anyone who can provide her with something she needs. The goblins of Kat-dun Cave have the raw materials she needs for her experiments. So in return for access to their mines, on occasion she will draw somebody through the mirror into their lair. Because the main thing you need to know about the goblins of Kat-dun Cave is that they crave the taste of human flesh. The moral of the story: when a flirty elven woman invites you to leave your world behind, it’s probably best to say, "no thanks," as tempting as the offer may be.
