Description

Tried to paint this quick painting a bit more abstract and I do like the result. Painted with Acrylic on another half done painting, I didnt like on a piece of Masonite about 40x46 cm.

Far better than the floral painting in the last hotel suite I stayed in. Beautiful and whimsical!

Congratulations on successfully doing a still life bouquet acrylic painting using not only a brush, but also a spatula, Helle. Or maybe you just used the spatula all by itself. In any case, this will definitely give the old Dutch masters a run for their money. And I love the rich colors in this. You are most talented.

Man, I never saw this one coming. I can see the remnants of the painting underneath---those red splotches are from the earlier painting, right? And I love the mixed textures here, some are very gridlike. But most of all I love your colors---your colors, in the last several paintings, have been so deep and saturated; and when they're paler, they're a rich-pale. You've emerged into this very intense world of hues. And your strokes are so visceral here---like oil much more than acrylic. I love the vase's rushed strokes---they're to die for. And the cup---ditto. Great rushing-feeling to the strokes. And the semi-flat way you've portrayed the center flowers---defying a 3 dimensional feeling, and letting the paint just be paint on a surface. Another bold and strongly articulated painting from you---by "strongly articulated," i mean in your rushed and powerful strokes, etc. I love this. And the combo of old with new makes it all the more visceral. And the white small flowers---esp right over the vase---are great accents. Bravo, Helle. Your painting these days is terrific. I'll take the next 20. Send me a bill...
