Description

Andrea, I just wanted to tell you about the lavenders. The fun is, last year, Amit, my oldest son had purchased too many lavenders, so I got a few young plants from him. I planted them in an old faschioned bucket..... And nothing really happened. They just stood there and didnt grow much and so, I just gave them a bit of water, when I remembered to do so. And so they stood all autumn and winter and this spring they began to grow. OH!....I was surprised, so I thought I´d better give them a bit of fertilizer and then things began to happen. Now they are almost finnished looking beautiful. Guess it is about time for them to be done. Nothing lasts for ever. But this was the first time I ever had these normal Lavenders. Maybe they will be back next year... Dont know. We will see :) Have a beautiful Day/Evening. We had a cool and nice day today. It is still a bit cool here at 9 PM

Lavender blue, dilly-dilly, lavender green, and so on. Fine capture of the white butterfly atop the stalk of little flowers, Helle.

Very nice capture Helle.
The butterfly looks like a 'Pieris rapae' (Kleiner Kohlweißling)

A most fantastic capture, Helle, and what a great colour-(combination). So many details also. We have big bushes from this Lavender and they become larger every year. They are also very easy to clone (I mean to make more of them).

I didn't know lavender flowers were that 'picky' to grow...we had them in my childhood home, but I didn't plant them. They'd been there many years and always bloomed when I was a kid. I love the closeup on this butterfly, we can see its hairs and the veins in his wings. And the hairs on the flowers and stem (the one closest to the center). I love this closeup. And the butterfly is a great contrast to those deep purples. Even in a parched summer, you have lots of beauty around you. I hope it cools off soon: It's amazing how hot northern europe has been this summer. Such an unexpected heat wave up there. I hope you're doing well! This lavender pair is beautiful.
