Description
The first time she saw "the stare" was late night, curled up with Stephen King (his book, not the actual person). The cat stopped mid-purr, fixing a stony gaze on what was invisible to her eyes. She spoke to him several times but could not divert his attention from whatever had captured it... something unwelcome, unfriendly and just behind her head. Totally creeped out she put the book down, banished the cat from the room, and slept with the lights on.
True story, lol, has that ever happened to you? (please say yes)
This is a silly render but I have had the curlers by Ali for some time now, trying to decide what to do with that hair! When I saw the reading poses (credited below) just couldn't resist.
Her book cover features a scary clown by MortemVetus but I can't remember which one.
Fluffy Mil cat by Tiny over at HiveWire
For the last few years I have been involved in creating book cover art, seems that every time I return to Renderosity things have changed. I cannot find the place to add an artist as a Favorite, is that called Following now? I'm confused :)
Thank you for looking in, have a glorious weekend! (put the cat out if reading something scary)

The eyes really show the fear she's feeling from the book. I like the use of the hair with curlers with too. Might have to grab that hair for myself.

it's fun hair! Just needs the right place, lol. Thanks for your comment :)

This is just perfect! You've nailed her sense of unease with just her eyes and brows - superb. I almost get cold chills looking at this. I don't have a cat (more of a dog person, myself), but I've seen the same kind of reaction from dogs. It does make you wonder what animals can see..... That we can't.

Thank you RodS, I'm so pleased that it comes across as I intended, sometimes I look at a thing too long and lose perspective. I googled it, and turns out both cats and dogs see things that we cannot, has to do with UV light or some such. Creepy all the same :)

Been there, done that. I read "The Haunting of Hill House" in the daylight and it scared the beegeebers out of me. This is just too funny and I love that just her eyes are seen over the book. Magnificent job!

I've had this happen too! You have captured the feeling perfectly!
