Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Very smart, great pics.

I sympathize with you on the phone. I stood there like a dummy looking at the screen as the phone rang not knowing what to do until my friend swiped left. You mentioned Poirot on your facebook post. I think you would make a great replacement for Miss Marple.

Wow what a wonderful hat, it suits you soooo well.
I can't get a selfie to turn out this good.
Thanks for sharing.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how much you like your smart phone once you get used to it. As much as we travel, I couldn't do without mine. Being able to navigate and look things up on the internet when one is in an unfamiliar place is priceless!

Great capture of yourself. There are times, though, that a Smart Phone is a pure annoyance

(I had to step away for a minute) Great shot of that hat, with great light. And I love your totally concentrated gaze...in your self-portrait photographs, you never ham it up for the camera, or try to present yourself in any particular way: You let us see you as you are in each moment. I love that; and it makes your 'selifes' wonderful and totally honest. I love your expression here. Love the shot.
I've had an iPhone for 6 years (different versions, but all smartphones), and I STILL can't make a freakin' call without having a heart attack. And answering??? Before they disconnect??? Fuggeddabbouddit. A friend said, "you can do photoshop and digital audio work (which is worse than Blender, Andrea), but you can't answer a f___ing phone???" The comic Norm Macdonald did a bit on taking pictures with the old hand-dial phones, where he shouts, "don't move---wait---" (and he dials). He also said that in the 'older' days, we collected 20, 30 shots of our loved ones, and showed them to our grandkids. But today (w/ smartphones), he tells his grandkids: "Hey---you guys wanna see 200 million shots of grandpa???"
Love the shot!
