Here's my take on Frazetta or Vallejo of a she-barbarian and a sorceress' apprentice versus a horde that grossly underestimated them.

My first thought when I saw this was "Xena and Gabrielle"... Truly delightful... They are both beautiful!

Come to mention it, that was a partial influence. Mind you, Xena & Gabrielle were probably themselves partly inspired by the works of Frazetta and Vallejo.
